Today we are going through the Occlusion Map & Emission Channel.

What is an Occlusion Map- It's basically used for providing information on which area of the 3D Model should receive high or low indirect lighting. In other words, it will create a false shadow.

How to apply the Occlusion to the right-side door

In the below scene on the right-side door, this can be done, first make a new material -called it door, in the Albedo, click the dot adjacent to Albedo and look for door texture & attach it. In the inspector, go down to Occlusion click the circle next to it, and add the Ambient Occlusion file from there.

Applying Occlusion on the right-side door..!!
Occlusion Map- shows blue /dark part( no-light) & yellow/light part (light on them)

Now when you adjust the slider you can see shadows happening very subtly on the door, with dark parts having no light or light parts having a light on them.

Emission Channel- Also know as a self- illuminant. Emission is basically light from an object that not using the light source, but getting the light data from texture or color.

An example of this Display case is shown below...

Display Case

How does it naturally light it, could be it using some spotlights on it.

If we look at the material below for the display, we see it has all the different usual maps like Albedo, Normal, and even Occlusion.

Display Case with Usual Maps..

But its using pure emissions…A higher setting will make the emission brighter and make it blinding white and a lower setting darker. When it's zero, there is no emission at all, making the display black.

This works by using the texture map assigned to the emissions. When a designer creates the texture, light has basically been baked to grab specific amounts of lighting data from unity. Thats why the rim looks lit up in the middle more than on the edges and so on.
