What are Reflection Probes vs Screen Space Reflections….

In order to have reflections in our environment, you could already see that below marble floor have surface material — it's a standard shader & has reflective properties that allow the environment and skyboxes already reflect of the floor.

But it will not reflect through doors and pillars that are not reflecting on our scene.

So, what we can do — we create Reflection Probes which will sample our environment & create reflect around us.

In order to do that on hierachy section, right click select Light -> Reflection Probes and stretch the Reflection Probes around the length & width of the floor and you can instantly see the environment reflection — now if you see the floor , the doors and pillars having reflections and pillars are reflecting on the floors.

Reflection Probes
Reflection Probes — on the marble floor.., environmental reflections doors and pillars…

What we call these above-cheap reflections i.,e they are good but not so great…

You can see the difference when it comes to Screen Space Reflections — which uses a post-processing stack and uses the screen space as its sample instead of our limited user-defined box with the reflection probe.

Screen Space Reflection — Stunning Reflections.

Its good great stunning reflection which are expensive as compared with Reflection Probes…

Note: The reflection probe reflections don’t compare, it’s still a great option to have on mobile and less powerful hardware.
